About KalaSudha in Amsterdam

A 2026 programme at the Concertgebouw tied Indian classical music in Amsterdam to the Surinamese-Hindustani tradition, and the concerts and workshops KalaSudha is planning are open to listeners who know either tradition or neither. DesiYUP listed the programme for the Kleine Zaal on 19 September 2026; its note says the two traditions came together in the Netherlands and are still changing. The line-up included Indian slide guitar, an instrument KalaSudha teaches online with a live teacher.

The listing described traditional Indian melodies combined with modern sounds, and a singer of north Indian classical and devotional music. KalaSudha presents top-class Indian classical musicians, and each Amsterdam programme we announce will name its performers and repertoire. You can see whether an evening is a classical recital before you book.

Learning can begin before any Amsterdam date. If you already sing or play in that tradition, a structured course gives you a route into its classical neighbour. Our instructors build those courses with KalaSudha, and top educationists vet them. Whether a workshop runs in Amsterdam turns on local interest and suitable arrangements, and no dates or venues are fixed. Press Register for updates to show that interest.

Why Amsterdam

What sets KalaSudha apart in Amsterdam

  • Coming from a related tradition

If you already know the music behind that Concertgebouw programme, KalaSudha's planned Amsterdam concerts let you hear Indian classical music at concert length. Each announcement will describe the repertoire, so you know what kind of evening it is.

  • Indian slide guitar

Indian slide guitar appeared on the 2026 Concertgebouw line-up. KalaSudha teaches it online with a live teacher, as it does voice and other instruments, so you can start without waiting for a local date.

  • Workshops need numbers

Tell us you would take part: a workshop in Amsterdam goes ahead only with enough local interest and suitable arrangements. Nothing is booked yet, so each registration counts towards that decision.
