About KalaSudha in Slough

Indian classical music in Slough was on a national tour route in 2025: Songlines listed Curve for 22 March on the bansuri player Rakesh Chaurasia's UK tour. The bansuri is a bamboo flute with no keys, only finger holes. His touring partner was the tabla player Ustad Shahbaz Hussain, an artist KalaSudha also presents. Six months later, SAAZ Music listed an afternoon workshop in Indian classical singing at the education centre of the Ramgharia Sikh Gurdwara on Woodlands Avenue.

KalaSudha is weighing Slough for concerts with top-class Indian classical musicians, and for workshops of its own. Every Slough programme we publish will carry the line-up and the venue before tickets go on sale. Listeners new to the music are welcome, and no background is needed.

Singing and the bansuri are both taught online with a live teacher at the KalaSudha academy. Instructors build our structured courses with us, and top educationists vet them. A workshop in Slough itself would need enough local interest and suitable arrangements, and nothing is booked in the town yet. Press Register for updates to be kept informed.

Why Slough

What sets KalaSudha apart in Slough

  • The bamboo flute

The bansuri is cut from a single length of bamboo and has no keys. The player shapes pitch with the breath and by half-covering a finger hole, which gives a raga its slides and bends.

  • Singing classes have been here before

SAAZ Music's 2025 listing offered an afternoon of Indian classical singing at a gurdwara education centre in Slough. A KalaSudha workshop in the town depends on enough people registering their interest.

  • Learn the flute or voice online

KalaSudha teaches the bansuri and Hindustani singing online with a live teacher. Our courses run in levels, so you can start at the beginning or pick up where you stopped.
