# Do I have to play the instrument being taught?

 Updated 19 October 2026

No. Whatever instrument the teacher plays, KalaSudha workshops accept guitar, violin, cello, sitar, sarod, mandolin, piano or voice.

The material carries across instruments, and the teacher shows how each technique adapts to frets, fretless necks and bows. See [what level the workshop suits](/en-ca/faq/workshops-learning/what-level-is-this-pitched-at).
