About KalaSudha in Brussels

Bozar's north-south programme set out Indian classical music in Brussels as two traditions on one bill, and hearing both is the starting point for KalaSudha's planned concerts and workshops. Hindustani music belongs to northern India and Carnatic music to the south. Bozar set the two side by side on 14 March 2026, in a programme it called a musical discussion between north and south Indian traditions. The listing paired sitar and Carnatic flute with tabla and the mridangam, a south Indian barrel drum. Bozar's listing named the tabla player Ustad Shahbaz Hussain, one of the artists KalaSudha works with.

KalaSudha presents top-class Indian classical musicians. Each Brussels programme we announce will name its performers and say whether it is Hindustani, Carnatic or both, so you know what you are booking. Until then, our events listings show concerts already announced elsewhere.

Learning can start before any local date. Each KalaSudha course follows a structure its instructor builds with us, and top educationists vet the teaching. A Brussels workshop needs enough interest and suitable arrangements, and the city has no confirmed dates or venues yet. Press Register for updates and we will tell you when that changes.

Why Brussels

What sets KalaSudha apart in Brussels

  • One drum from each tradition

Tabla belongs to Hindustani music and the mridangam to Carnatic music, and Bozar's 2026 north-south programme put both drums on one stage. KalaSudha's Brussels announcements will say which tradition each programme follows.

  • Come without background knowledge

You do not need to know a raga, the melodic framework a performance unfolds, to enjoy a concert. KalaSudha's planned Brussels programmes welcome first-time listeners and people who already follow the music.

  • Learn between concerts

Structured online courses are open to you wherever you live. An in-person workshop in Brussels would need enough local interest and suitable arrangements, so registering helps us judge whether one can go ahead.
