About KalaSudha in Derby
Summertime Raga took Indian classical music in Derby outdoors: Surtal Arts listed the sitar and tabla afternoon at Elvaston Castle Country Park, near the city, for 4 July 2026. Its listing promised Hindustani raga repertoire inspired by the castle's Old English Garden, presented with the Elvaston Castle & Gardens Trust. A raga is the melodic framework a piece follows.
KalaSudha is looking at Derby for its own concerts and workshops, presented by top-class Indian classical musicians. Before anything goes on sale, our Derby listing will name the players and the venue. Concerts welcome people who have never heard a raga before. If the sitar caught your ear, our sitar page introduces the instrument.
Learning does not have to wait for a concert. Sitar and tabla can both be learnt online with a live teacher at the KalaSudha academy, on structured courses built by each instructor and vetted by top educationists. Hands-on sessions in Derby come only if enough people want them and suitable arrangements can be made, and there are no Derby dates or venues yet. To hear when that changes, press Register for updates.

Ragas in the open air
