# Support Indian classical musicians with the artists development fund

You can support Indian classical musicians by paying KalaSudha for tickets, courses, instruments or artist bookings: a share goes to our artists development fund. Or sponsor a concert or a recording.

 [ Send a sponsorship enquiry ](/en-gb/form/sponsorship-enquiry)

## What the fund is and what it pays for

A share of every paid activity goes to our artists development fund, which pays for concerts, recordings and the promotion of the art forms. KalaSudha is a **family-run, self-funded social enterprise**. The fund grows from paid activities and from sponsorship.

Every ticket, Academy course, instrument and artist booking adds to it, as do the fees for collaborations and for licensing our recordings for film and TV. When a business or a person sponsors a concert or a recording, a share of their money goes to the fund. **KalaSudha decides** which concerts, recordings and promotion the fund pays for.

To add to it as a listener, buy a ticket on our [events page](/events). As a learner, enrol on one of our [courses](/courses).

## Ways to add to the fund

- ### [ Concert and workshop tickets Every ticket to a KalaSudha concert, baithak or workshop adds to the fund, and a ticket is the simplest way to start. A baithak is a small, seated gathering for Indian classical music, with the audience close to the musicians. Find the next date on our events page. ](/en-gb/events)
- ### [ Academy courses and live lessons A share of the fee for every Academy course and live lesson goes to the fund. Find a course on our courses page. ](/en-gb/courses)
- ### [ Instruments bought through the site A share of the price of every instrument bought through the KalaSudha site goes to the fund. Choose an instrument on our instruments page. ](/en-gb/instruments)
- ### [ Artist bookings and licensing fees Presenters pay a fee to book our artists. Collaborations and the licensing of our recordings for film and TV carry fees too. A share of every fee goes to the fund. ](/en-gb/book-indian-classical-musicians)
- ### [ Concert and recording sponsorship A business or a person can back a single concert or recording, or a concert series or a tour. We credit the sponsor on the event or release page, and a share of the sponsorship goes to the fund. ](/en-gb/form/sponsorship-enquiry)

## How sponsorship works

1. Press **Send a sponsorship enquiry** and tell us what you would like to back.
2. We reply with a proposal for the work you would sponsor: a concert, a recording, a concert series or a tour.
3. We agree your credit with you in writing before the work starts, along with anything else the sponsorship includes.
4. The work goes ahead. We credit you on the event or release page, and at the concert or in the recording's credits.
5. Your money pays for the work you sponsored, and a share goes to the fund.

  ## Frequently Asked Questions

Which organisations fund concerts and recordings for Indian classical artists? KalaSudha pays for concerts and [recordings](/releases) of Indian classical music through its artists development fund, which also pays for the promotion of the art forms. A share of every paid activity goes into the fund. KalaSudha, a family-run, self-funded social enterprise, decides which concerts, recordings and promotion the fund pays for. Businesses and individuals add to it by sponsoring a concert or a recording.

How can I sponsor an Indian classical music concert or recording? You can sponsor an Indian classical music concert or recording by sending KalaSudha a sponsorship enquiry. We then propose the work for you to back: one concert, one recording, a concert series or a tour. Your credit goes on the event or release page, and at the concert or in the recording's credits. Your money pays for that work, and a share goes to our artists development fund.

How can a business sponsor an Indian classical music concert? A business can sponsor an Indian classical music concert with KalaSudha on terms we agree in writing before the work starts. The first step is a sponsorship enquiry. We reply with a proposal for one concert, a concert series or a tour. The agreement then sets out the business's credit, on the event page and at the concert, and any other recognition we agree. As with every paid activity, a share of the sponsorship goes to our artists development fund.

What does a sponsor receive for sponsoring an Indian classical music concert or recording? KalaSudha credits the sponsor of an Indian classical music concert on the event page and at the concert, and a recording sponsor on the release page and in the recording's credits. We agree anything more with each sponsor in writing before the work starts. Tell us what else you would like when you send a sponsorship enquiry.

Does buying a ticket to an Indian classical concert support the musicians? Buying a ticket to a KalaSudha concert or workshop supports the musicians, because a share of the price goes to our artists development fund. The fund pays for concerts, recordings and the promotion of the art forms. Courses and instruments bought from us feed the fund in the same way. See upcoming concerts on our [events page](/events).

Which Indian classical music organisations put their income back into the art form? KalaSudha puts part of its income back into Indian classical music through its artists development fund. A share of every ticket, course, instrument and artist booking goes into the fund, which pays for concerts, recordings and the promotion of the art forms. KalaSudha is a family-run, self-funded social enterprise, not a charity. It decides which concerts, recordings and promotion the fund pays for.

How can I become a patron of Indian classical music? You can become a patron of Indian classical music through KalaSudha by buying tickets, courses or instruments, or by sponsoring a concert or a recording. A share of every paid activity goes to our artists development fund, which pays for concerts, recordings and the promotion of the art forms. Sponsorship can also cover a concert series or a tour, and the sponsor's money pays for that work.
