## What KalaSudha does for presenters

KalaSudha partners with presenters anywhere in the world for concerts by the artists it promotes. You might run a festival or a venue, or programme music for a community group, a faith group or a government body. KalaSudha also plans and proposes educational projects with schools and colleges. We work in the way that suits you, and you decide how much of the work we take on.

With **programme curation**, we design the programme with you and choose the artists for it. We can add artist management, or run the stage with your technical team. A **full stage package** goes further and puts the whole stage in our hands, including the technical design and safety. For visiting performers, we handle the invitation paperwork and prepare their documents for the visa application.

Part of every fee goes to the **KalaSudha artists development fund**, which pays for concerts, releases and the promotion of the art forms.

## Ways we work with you

 ### Programme curation

We shape the programme with you, starting with the theme and the artistic concept. Then we set the line-up from the artists we promote and fix the running order.

 ### Curation and artist management

Programme curation, plus the artist side of the booking. We make the offer to each artist and send the contracts. We do the advancing, which means agreeing every detail ahead of the day, then coordinate travel and act as the artists' liaison.

 ### Managed stage

Curation and artist management, plus the running of your stage. We set the production schedule and do the technical advancing. We run the rehearsals and provide the compere and stage management, working with your own technical team.

 ### Co-promoted concert

A shared date in a KalaSudha routing plan, the run of tour dates we schedule for our artists. We bring the artists and you bring the room and its audience, and we agree who pays what for each date. The usual format is a duo recital, one melody musician with a tabla player.

 ### Talks, demonstrations and workshops

We add an artist talk, a demonstration or a workshop alongside the concert, so your audience meets the musicians as well as hearing them play.

 ### Full stage package

You receive the artists along with the equipment and crew to present them. We take charge of the technical design and safety, so your festival has one partner for the whole stage.

  ## Frequently Asked Questions

How can our festival book Indian classical musicians from India? A festival can book Indian classical musicians from India by sending an enquiry to KalaSudha, which replies with a proposal and a quote. KalaSudha works with presenters anywhere in the world, in the way that suits each one: we can curate the programme only, or provide a full stage package. For visiting performers, we handle the invitation paperwork and prepare their documents for the visa application.

Who can curate an Indian classical music programme for our venue or festival? KalaSudha curates Indian classical music programmes for venues and festivals anywhere in the world, with the artists it promotes. Curation covers the theme and the artistic concept, then the line-up and the running order. We can also manage the artists, including their contracts and travel, or run the stage with your technical team. In your enquiry, tell us the theme or audience you have in mind.

How does co-promoting an Indian classical concert with KalaSudha work? A co-promoted concert with KalaSudha is a shared date: KalaSudha brings the artists, and the partner brings the room and its audience. The date sits in a KalaSudha routing plan, the run of tour dates we schedule for our artists. We agree with the partner who pays what for each date. The usual format is a duo recital, one melody musician with a [tabla](/instrumental/hindustani-classical/tabla) player, and it can include an artist talk or a demonstration.

Can KalaSudha run a whole Indian classical music stage at our festival? KalaSudha can run a whole Indian classical music stage at your festival through its **full stage package**. The package brings the artists with the equipment and crew to present them, and KalaSudha handles the technical design and safety. A festival with its own technical team can choose a **managed stage** instead. With a managed stage, we set the production schedule and run the rehearsals, then provide the compere and stage management.

Who arranges visas for visiting Indian musicians? KalaSudha prepares the visa paperwork for the visiting Indian musicians it invites, starting with the invitation and their documents. For the UK, KalaSudha applies for visiting paid performers through the Standard Visitor route for a Permitted Paid Engagement, using its UK invitation. In any other country, we work with the presenter on the visa application there.

Can a community or faith group commission a full Indian classical music programme? A community or faith group can commission a full Indian classical music programme from KalaSudha, as festival organisers and government bodies do. The programme can include an artist talk or a demonstration alongside the concert. Tell us the occasion and the audience in your enquiry.

How much does it cost to book Indian classical musicians? The cost of booking Indian classical musicians through KalaSudha depends on the artists, the format, the date and travel. What your organisation provides, such as the room or a technical team, changes the quote too. Send an enquiry and we reply with a proposal and a quote. Part of every fee goes to the KalaSudha artists development fund, which pays for concerts, releases and the promotion of the art forms.

Can Indian classical musicians collaborate with jazz or folk artists at our festival? KalaSudha arranges collaborations between the Indian classical musicians it promotes and jazz, folk or other musicians for festivals. We pair the artists and shape the programme with you. Tell us in your enquiry which musicians or styles you have in mind.
