 About the course

## About this course

**Indian Slide Guitar** is a structured long-form programme for students who want to study Hindustani melody on a slide-based instrument with seriousness and continuity. The journey is organised across three tiers: Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced, with each tier split into three 12-session modules so students can progress in clear steps without losing musical depth.

The programme balances posture, tuning, swara knowledge, meend control, right-hand discipline, raga development, gat work, and performance practice. It is designed for guided learning with real continuity rather than disconnected short lessons.

- 3 tiers with 9 total modules
- 12 sessions in each module
- Technique, repertoire, listening, and performance integrated together
- Suitable for absolute beginners and assessed lateral entry

- ### Progressive Structure

The programme is broken into manageable 12-session modules so students can move forward with clarity and measurable progress.
- ### Technique With Musical Purpose

Each tier combines physical technique with raga understanding, not just isolated drills.
- ### Repertoire and Improvisation

Students move from early melodic exercises toward gat presentation, alap development, and independent phrasing.
- ### Assessment-Led Entry

Learners can begin from Foundation or be assessed into a later tier if they already have the required grounding.

Indian slide guitarist, Senia-Maihar gharana

  Agra, India

Pandit Debasis Chakroborty, an Indian slide guitarist of the Senia-Maihar gharana, is the senior-most disciple of Pandit Brij Bhushan Kabra, and his playing reflects Kabra's style.

> On the slide, the string does not merely vibrate; it speaks. The soul of the raga finds its voice in every glissando, and the silence between notes carries as much meaning as the sound itself.
