# What is The Great Hall, Reading like for a concert?

 Updated 19 October 2026

**The Great Hall** stands on the University of Reading's London Road campus, the university's original home. It opened in 1906 and is listed Grade II. A Binns organ, installed in 1911, fills the apse, in a case of cedar from a tree that once grew on the site. The university still uses the hall for degree ceremonies, examinations, concerts, lectures and receptions.
