## About KalaSudha in Jammu

Indian classical music in Jammu has a teaching home in the **Institute of Music and Fine Arts**. The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages set it up as a hobby centre, in 1965 by the institute's own page and in 1964 by another University of Jammu page. It affiliated with the University of Jammu in 1974, which let it start bachelor's degrees.

Its four-year B.Mus. covers Hindustani classical vocal music, sitar, violin, tabla and Kathak dance.

Jammu learners can study tabla, sitar or any of the other disciplines KalaSudha teaches on its [online courses](/en-gb/courses). A KalaSudha certificate or diploma rounds off each finished level, and each topic credits the skills it names. A learner from another teacher may ask for an assessment. Once Jammu learners sign up in enough numbers, workshops and summer camps open there. On stage, KalaSudha presents concerts such as the Kala Festival, a touring festival. Your instructor closes each topic only after reviewing your work, and Foundation is assessed through practical work and spoken questions rather than written papers.
