For established, full-time artists, wherever they live
Artist promotion for Indian classical music, dance and art
KalaSudha is a platform for artist promotion that presents Indian classical musicians and dancers in concerts in the UK and Europe and releases their work worldwide. Artists pay no fee to be promoted.
How KalaSudha works with artists
KalaSudha promotes established, full-time Indian classical artists in music, dance and visual art, wherever they live. They include musicians who travel from India for concerts. We present our musicians and dancers in concerts and tours across the UK and Europe, and take their releases and online work to audiences worldwide. Our own events include the Kala Festival, and if you teach, the course you build with us joins the KalaSudha courses. Every artist we promote, visual artists included, also gets promotion on kalasudha.com and our other channels.
You pay no fee to be promoted. As your agent, we take a commission on the engagements we secure for you, and you earn a royalty on each release. Both go into a written agreement with you, and we agree the royalty rate before recording.
KalaSudha is a family-run, self-funded social enterprise. Part of the income from every paid KalaSudha activity goes to the KalaSudha artists development fund, which pays for concerts, releases and the promotion of the art forms.
What we do for the artists we promote
Concerts and performances in the UK and Europe
KalaSudha presents the musicians and dancers it promotes in its own concerts and tours across the UK and Europe, among them the Kala Festival. London Ragas is our monthly baithak in London: a small, seated concert, with listeners close to the musicians. We also introduce our artists to partner presenters, festivals and venues.
Album releases and royalties
As a record label, KalaSudha records and produces albums, tracks and video releases with the artists it signs, and releases them worldwide. You earn a royalty on each release, at a rate we agree with you in writing before recording.
Promotion on KalaSudha's channels
Each artist we promote has a profile page on kalasudha.com. We promote their work internationally on our social media, in our newsletter and through interviews and podcasts. Visual artists, such as painters in Indian traditional styles, get the same promotion as our musicians and dancers.
Visas and paperwork for paid concerts
KalaSudha prepares the invitation and the visa paperwork for each visiting artist it invites. For paid concerts in the UK, we make the application ourselves, through the Standard Visitor route for a Permitted Paid Engagement. In other countries, we work with the presenter on the application.
Teaching with KalaSudha
If you teach, you can build a course with KalaSudha and teach it online. Your course joins the KalaSudha courses that our students choose from.
Collaborations, film and TV
KalaSudha brings the artists it promotes into collaborations with other musicians, companies and festivals. We also bring our artists into film, TV and advertising work.
