Intermediate Indian slide guitar starts after Foundation or a placement session. You should be able to set up and tune your instrument, then play clean notes with even strokes. Find Sa and Pa, the tonic and fifth, by ear.

You also need melodic exercises within a counted cycle, an early alap, the unmetered opening, and phrases in one raga. Your teacher checks these skills before placing you.
