# When should I clap at an Indian classical concert?

 Updated 18 October 2026

Clap at the end of each piece. Listeners at Indian classical concerts also respond during the music, with a soft "wah" or brief applause at a striking moment from the soloist or the **tabla**. If you are unsure, keep your applause for the end of the piece. Stay silent while the musicians tune. New to this music?
