Where can I learn dhamar singing online with a live teacher?

Updated

KalaSudha teaches dhamar singing online with a live, vetted teacher. Dhamar is a dhrupad-family song form sung in the 14-beat dhamar tala, its rhythmic cycle, and most of its texts describe Krishna playing Holi with Radha and the gopis.

A dhamar uses the same voice and performance pattern as dhrupad, so at Foundation you begin with the dhrupad way of singing: long, steady notes. Later comes layakari, setting the words against the cycle at multiples of the tempo. One teacher guides you over years through our courses, and workshops and summer camps follow where enough learners sign up.
