About This Track
Aditya Dip closes Echoes of Kashi with fourteen minutes of pakhawaj solo in Sadra, a ten-beat cycle, over the harmonium lehra of Dr Indradeo Choudhary. The name comes from the sadra, a vocal form between Dhrupad and khayal whose usual cycle is ten beats. Tabla players know the same count as Jhaptaal. It is the only track on the EP outside the twelve-beat Chautaal.
He plays the two earlier tracks in Chautaal, the second of them at fast tempo, and ends here on the shorter count.
