How long does it take to learn the bansuri?

Your progress on the bansuri, the side-blown bamboo flute, follows your practice, and before any melody comes a clear tone. At Foundation, your teacher shows where to set your lips at the blowing hole, and you adjust them a little between attempts. Later stages add meend, a glide made by sliding a finger on or off a hole.
