How long does it take to learn the sarod?
Updated
On the sarod, regular practice and your ear set the pace, because the fingerboard has no frets and your left hand places every pitch. Next, you join the two hands. You pause so the left-hand change lands before the next stroke of the java, the plectrum, and shorten the pause once both notes sound right.
KalaSudha teaches the sarod online, live and one-to-one, and in workshops and summer camps where enough learners sign up. Each level of our courses, from Foundation up, ends in an award that records your hours of learning.
