Each lesson has a practice assignment. Record what it asks for and upload the audio or video file to that assignment. Your instructor gives it a score out of 5 and talks you through it in your next class.
Before you record
- Read the assignment. It tells you what to play or sing, at what speed, and how long the recording should be.
- Record in a quiet room. A phone is fine. Point it at you and your instrument so the instructor can see your hands and posture as well as hear you.
- Play the whole exercise in one take, without edits, unless the assignment says otherwise.
Files we accept
Audio: MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC or OGG. Video: MP4, MOV, WEBM or AVI.
Each file can be up to 10 GB.
Upload your recording
- Sign in and go to /learn.
- Open the course under My Courses, then the lesson.
- Open the practice assignment.
- Under File, choose your recording and wait for the upload to finish.
- Select Submit. On the last activity of a course, the button reads Finish course.
To send a better take, open the assignment again, choose the new file and submit. The new file replaces the old one.
Where the feedback appears
Your instructor marks each practice recording with a score out of 5. You see the score on the Results page of your course. Your instructor gives you spoken feedback on the recording in your next class.
If this does not work
- The file is refused: check it is one of the types above and under 10 GB.
- The upload stops part way: use a steadier connection, or record a shorter take.
If you still cannot upload, write to [email protected] with the course, the lesson name and the file type.
