About KalaSudha in Hyderabad
Indian classical music in Hyderabad gained a singer of khayal, a leading form of Hindustani classical singing, after 1857, when Tanras Khan settled at the court of the Nizam, the ruler of Hyderabad. He died there in 1885 or 1890.
Tanras Khan belonged to the Qawwal Bacchon gharana, a hereditary line of qawwals and khayal singers who trace their descent to the disciples of the poet Amir Khusrau. Irfan Zuberi, writing on the gharana's history, says Tanras Khan kept the line's tradition alive.
