To send a practice recording to your teacher on KalaSudha, open the lesson's practice assignment, choose your audio or video file under File and press Submit. Your instructor scores it out of 5 and talks it through with you in the next class.

Before you record

  • Read what the assignment asks you to record. Every lesson has one, called "Practice Upload".
  • Record in a quiet room. A phone is fine. Place it so your instructor can see your hands and posture as well as hear you.
  • Play, sing or dance the whole exercise in one take, unless the assignment says otherwise.

Files we accept

Audio: MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC or OGG. Video: MP4, MOV, WebM or AVI. Large video files take longer to upload, so leave the page open until the upload finishes.

Upload your recording

  1. Sign in and go to the learning area.
  2. Open the course under My Courses, then the lesson.
  3. Open the practice assignment.
  4. Under File, choose your recording and wait for the upload to finish.
  5. Press Submit. On the last activity of a course the button reads Finish course.

To send a better take, submit a new file. It replaces the old one.

Where the feedback appears

Your instructor listens, gives the recording a score out of 5 and talks it through with you in your next class. The score shows on the course's results page. While the recording waits for review, your course page can show "Pending review", as See your progress in a course explains.

To watch a class again before your next take, read Watch your class recordings.

If this does not work

  • If the file is refused, check it is one of the types above.
  • If the upload stops part way, move to a steadier connection, or record a shorter take.
  • If sound or video fails during the live class itself, read Fix sound or video problems during a class.
