About KalaSudha in Bhopal

Indian classical music in Bhopal has deep roots in dhrupad, the oldest vocal genre of Hindustani classical music still performed. From 1981 the state-backed Dhrupad Kendra in Bhopal trained singers under members of the Dagar gharana.

A year later the city gained Bharat Bhawan, a multi-arts centre set up by the Madhya Pradesh government and inaugurated on 13 February 1982. One of its wings, Anhad, serves classical and folk music. A residential dhrupad gurukul, the Dhrupad Sansthan, opened in Bhopal in 2004; it teaches each student individually and awards no degrees.

For learners, KalaSudha's online courses teach sitar, tabla and every other discipline. A certificate or diploma marks each level's end. Sign-ups from Bhopal decide when workshops and summer camps open in the city. KalaSudha also presents concerts, among them the Kala Festival, a touring festival. Your instructor reviews your work before closing each topic.
