About Advanced
Advanced sitar prepares a full raga rendering and a recital of at least thirty minutes, with composition and supervised teaching alongside. You enter after Intermediate or a placement review against its milestones. It is the third level of the sitar course prepared by KalaSudha. As a typical guide, Advanced takes 12–30 months, and you agree the pace with your teacher.
Module 3A sustains raga development. You transcribe from a complete rendition, plan a ten-minute alaap and choose andolan, murki and krintan where the raga allows. You then pair a slow and a faster gat with six taans and build an alaap-jod-jhala arc. The module closes with a twenty-minute study.

Module 3B makes rhythm and style explicit: sapat and gamak taans at a clear speed, a three-cycle tihai, a counted cross-rhythm and a concert study in Ektal or Jhaptal. You compare five traditions with timestamps and lead sawal-jawab, a phrase exchange, with tabla.
Module 3C assembles fifteen studied ragas, six practical studies, a composed gat and a twenty-minute Foundation lesson you teach under supervision. In a cohort, you rehearse the recital in front of fellow learners before the assessed performance. Your teacher and a second qualified assessor review the recital and a live viva, and the level leads to a KalaSudha award (see certificates). Ask about Advanced in the Academy.

Questions about Advanced
Entry, pace, assessment and what you show to finish the level.
Preparation for a first sitar recital runs through Advanced. Module 3C asks for a four-week preparation log with rest and recording review and a thirty-minute run without a persistent tension fault.
You prepare sound, introductions and cues for your tabla player, rehearse the full recital, then perform at least thirty minutes and answer a live viva.
Advanced sitar starts after Intermediate or a placement review against its milestones. You should play a slow Masitkhani and a faster Razakhani gat with todas, jod with basic jhala, a counted tihai and a gat outside Teentaal.
You should also recognise eight studied ragas and present a ten- to fifteen-minute set.
The Advanced level of the sitar course ends with a recital of at least thirty minutes on one principal raga, live or continuously recorded with both hands visible, followed by a live viva. Your teacher and a second qualified assessor both sign off each milestone.
You also submit six practical studies, a transcription, a composed gat and a twenty-minute supervised lesson with its plan, observed correction and revision.
Yes. Advanced sitar includes one Foundation topic that you plan and teach for twenty minutes under supervision. You diagnose a learner's error and revise your plan after feedback.
The lesson plan, the observed correction and your revision count as compulsory Advanced evidence, with or without style electives.
