Instrumental Journey Through Nature, Vol. 1 (Live at Kala Festival 2023)

Instrumental Journey Through Nature was performed at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Maidenhead, as part of Kala Festival 2023, organised by KalaSudha. The ensemble brought together Pandit Debasis Chakroborty on Indian slide guitar, Deepak Shah on piano, Lovely Sharma on sitar, and Durjay Bhaumik on tabla.

Volume 1 opens with Five Elements, an original suite in five movements: Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Universe. Each movement draws on a different mood through improvisation and composition. The suite is followed by three parts of Raag Megh, the monsoon raga of the Malhar family, built on a deep, rain-evoking character that the ensemble develops across the three sections.

The recording captures the live performance at Norden Farm, with the acoustic of the hall and a live audience present. Vol. 1 is the first of two volumes from the same concert.
