About KalaSudha in Guwahati
Indian classical music in Guwahati shares its state with Sattriya, the classical dance of Assam. Sattriya grew up in the Vaishnava monasteries called sattras and took shape in the Ankiya Nat, one-act devotional plays of song, dance and dialogue by Srimanta Sankaradeva. The Sangeet Natak Akademi accepted it as classical on 15 November 2000. The sattras' monks, the bhakats, once danced every role, female parts included. Sattriya has appeared on modern stages since 1922, and men and women from outside the sattras now perform it.
On stage, its dancers move to Borgeet, devotional songs by Sankaradeva and his disciple Madhavadeva set to ragas.
KalaSudha's online courses teach sitar, tabla and every other discipline for learners in Guwahati, and a KalaSudha certificate or diploma closes each level. Your instructor closes each topic after reviewing your work, and learners of other teachers can ask for an assessment. Guwahati gets workshops and summer camps as soon as enough learners there register. KalaSudha's concerts reach the stage through the Kala Festival, a touring festival, among others.
