About KalaSudha in Manchester

KalaSudha presents Indian classical music in Manchester at The Stoller Hall, the concert hall of Chetham's School of Music, across the road from Victoria Station. It opened in 2017 and seats up to 482 across two levels. Stephenson Studio designed it as a box within a box, with acoustics by Arup, to keep street and rail noise out of the room.

Manchester has a long link with this music. Ravi Shankar played the Free Trade Hall in March 1967, with Alla Rakha on tabla. One of the tabla players KalaSudha presents, Ustad Shahbaz Hussain, lives in the city and teaches across the north of England.
