About KalaSudha in Vienna
Indian classical music in Vienna shared a mixed bill at the Ehrbar Saal on 1 October 2025, in the Austrian-Indian Friendship Concert. Its programme listed a sitar piece, Evening Raga, and an Indian popular song beside works by Mozart and Johann Strauss, among other Western composers.
Vienna is a city where KalaSudha hopes to present top-class Indian classical musicians in concert, with workshops where interest allows. Each Vienna listing from us will say whether a programme is wholly Indian classical or shares the stage with other music. Our own Vienna programmes will present Indian classical music, and dance where the programme calls for it, with top-class performers named in full in every listing. First-time listeners need no background, and all ages are welcome.
The KalaSudha academy teaches khayal to singers and the sitar to players, in live online lessons. You can begin before any Vienna date, at Foundation level. Each course has a structure its instructor sets with KalaSudha, and top educationists vet it. A Vienna workshop needs enough local interest and suitable arrangements, and none has been scheduled. Why Vienna
What sets KalaSudha apart in Vienna
-
Close to the musicians
KalaSudha builds its concerts on the baithak model, where a small seated audience sits near the players. At that range you hear the finger on the string and the fingertip on the tabla skin.
-
An award at every level
Each level of a KalaSudha course ends in an award. Foundation leads to the Sthayi Certificate, and Intermediate to the Antara Diploma, so your progress is on record.
-
Ragas and performers, named
KalaSudha's Vienna listings will name each raga on the programme and the musicians who play it. You will know what you are hearing, and who is playing, before the concert begins.
