Origins & Context
Raag Hansdhwani is een helder en opbeurend geluid. Zijn naam, "De Roep van de Zwaan," past bij zijn sierlijke, stijgende karakter. In tegenstelling tot veel avond-raga's die zich richten op verlangen of diepe vrede, heeft Hansdhwani, hoewel meestal gespeeld in de vroege avond, een energie die fris en vol licht aanvoelt.
Hansdhwani gebruikt slechts vijf noten, laat de vierde en zesde weg, en richt zich op natuurlijke intervallen. Dit geeft het een stabiel, helder geluid. In de Indische traditie wordt het vaak gebruikt om concerten of ceremonies te openen omdat wordt aangenomen dat het Heer Ganesha uitnodigt en obstakels wegneemt. Bij KalaSudha noemen we Hansdhwani een "Universele Opbeuring" omdat zijn vreugdevolle en heldere geest door iedereen kan worden gevoeld.
