Terwijl de dag eindigt en de oranje gloed van zonsondergang vervaagt tot grijs, neemt Raag Marwa het middelpunt. Behorend tot het Marwa Thaat, is deze raga een meesterwerk van psychologische spanning. Het wordt gedefinieerd door wat het mist: het laat de Pancham (P) volledig weg en behandelt de Shadja (S), de thuisnoot, als een punt dat vermeden moet worden. 

In Marwa voelt de ziel zich "thuisloos." Door onophoudelijk te zweven op de Komal Re (r) en Shuddha Dha (D), creëert de raga een gevoel van rusteloos verlangen en ascetische verwerping (Tyaga). Het is geen raga van comfort, maar van de rauwe, onverbloemde waarheid van het voorbijgaande moment.
