Origins & Context
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਡੁੱਬਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਹਲਚਲ ਪਰਛਾਵੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹਟਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇੱਕ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ, ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਉੱਠਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਰਾਗ ਭੂਪ (ਜਾਂ ਭੂਪਾਲੀ) ਹੈ, ਇੱਕ ਰਾਗ ਜੋ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰੀ ਸੰਗੀਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਤੁਲਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਕੀਟੈਕਚਰਲ ਸੰਤੁਲਨ ਦੀ ਪਰਿਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਭੂਪ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਇਸਦੇ ਵਾਦੀ, ਗ (ਗੰਧਾਰ) ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁੰਝਲਦਾਰ ਸਜਾਵਟ 'ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਰ ਰਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਲਟ, ਭੂਪ ਇੱਕ "ਸਥਿਰ" ਹੱਥ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੁਰ ਮੀਂਡ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ, ਗੂੰਜਦੇ ਗਲਾਈਡਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਸਟਰ ਗ ਤੋਂ ਰੇ ਤੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਛਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ; ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਹੌਲੀ, ਸੁੰਦਰ ਉਤਰਾਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਦਾ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਜਾਣਾ।
