About Advanced
Advanced harmonium prepares you for a judged 30-minute concert of accompaniment and solo, with composition and supervised teaching alongside. You enter after Intermediate or a placement session that confirms the same skills. It is the third level of the Harmonium course prepared by KalaSudha. As a typical guide, Advanced takes 12–30 months, and you agree the pace with your teacher.
Module 3A is accompanying khayal from vilambit to drut. You follow a singer through a slow cycle, holding back so the development stays theirs, reply in the singer's gaps and follow taans at fast tempo. You learn one singer's gayaki, their style of singing, and can take studies of four gayakis, such as Kirana.

Module 3B builds a solo: alap, jod and jhala in one raga without imitating the voice, tihais from three starting beats and layakari against the cycle. You transcribe a solo passage and analyse recorded harmonium excerpts. Electives add a solo gat in a second tala and lehra at concert standard.
Module 3C prepares the concert: work with a concert singer, a sound check, an instrument check, programme notes with sources, a lehra or gat of your own and one Foundation topic taught under supervision. In a cohort, you rehearse the concert in front of fellow learners first. The concert has 20 minutes of accompaniment and 10 of solo, and a judging assessor other than your teacher reviews it. The level leads to a KalaSudha award (see certificates). Ask about Advanced in the Academy.

Questions about Advanced
Entry, pace, assessment and what you show to finish the level.
Accompanying a full khayal, from vilambit to drut, comes in module 3A of Advanced harmonium. You follow a singer through a slow cycle, holding back so the development stays theirs, then reply in their gaps and follow taans at fast tempo.
A core topic asks you to learn one singer's gayaki and accompany 5 minutes of their recording. The module ends with a 15-minute khayal accompaniment.
Yes. Solo harmonium on the KalaSudha course starts at Intermediate and has its own module, 3B, at Advanced. You join a solo alap, jod and jhala in one raga without imitating the voice, and play tihais from three starting beats.
The checks include a 6-minute opening that moves from alap to jhala in order. The Advanced concert has 10 minutes of solo.
Yes. Advanced harmonium includes one Foundation topic that you plan and teach while a supervisor observes. You submit a lesson plan, diagnose a learner's error and show one useful correction.
The supervisor records the correction and the learner's response. An elective adds teaching a group lehra.
The Advanced level of the Harmonium course ends with a 30-minute concert to an audience: 20 minutes of accompaniment and 10 of solo. A judging assessor other than your teacher reviews cycle accuracy, pitch, development, partner response and recovery; a failed criterion needs correction and reassessment.
You also submit an original composition, an observed Foundation lesson and a written theory portfolio with a viva. All 18 Advanced skills must be met.
