About KalaSudha in Solapur
Indian classical music in Solapur (Sholapur) sits in a state where the Kirana gharana of khayal singing keeps one of its main centres. Kirana families have produced sarangi players as well as singers, and KalaSudha's Kirana gharana page traces both lines.
The gharana's style centres on the swara, the exact intonation and expression of each note.
KalaSudha's online courses are open to Solapur learners in tabla, sitar and every other discipline. A KalaSudha certificate or diploma closes each level, and once enough Solapur learners sign up, workshops and summer camps follow. Concerts by KalaSudha include its touring festival, the Kala Festival. Before a topic closes, your instructor reviews the work you have done. If you learn elsewhere, KalaSudha can assess you too. Classes run one-to-one or in a group, at times that fit around work or study.
