About This Track
Pandit Debasis Chakroborty opens The Pulse with Raag Kirwani on solo Indian slide guitar. Kirwani began as a parent scale in Carnatic music and now belongs to the Hindustani repertoire too. Its notes match the Western harmonic minor, which is why Western listeners find it familiar, and its mood sits between sadness and devotion.
At three minutes it is the shortest piece on the set and the entry point before Charukeshi on track two.
