Materials Used
专业级西塔琴的制作是一道缓慢的手工艺流程,需要有机材料与机械精度的完美结合。它始于图姆巴(Tumba,共鸣腔)的选材,由大而干燥的葫芦(Lagenaria siceraria)制成。这些葫芦生长于米拉杰、马哈拉施特拉等地,当地气候赋予其深沉共鸣所需的厚度与均匀度。
琴颈(丹迪)与面板(塔布利)由风干的音木手工雕刻,多用图恩木(Toon,印度桃花心木),少数老款则用柚木(Teak)。木材须风干多年,方能在 20 多根金属弦的高张力下不变形。连接琴颈与共鸣体的接合处称为古鲁(Gulu),是结构稳固的关键部位;通常会加固并精细雕刻,使其成为乐器的审美中心。
高级制琴工艺的一个标志是贾瓦里,也就是主桥码的雕琢。这并非简单的切口,而是在骆驼骨或鹿角上雕出的微妙“斜面”。技艺娴熟的工匠会花数小时聆听琴弦的振动,一边打磨桥码,直到获得那种开放的音色,赋予西塔琴神圣的音质。最后,乐器以法式抛光或虫胶处理,既保护木材,又保持足够柔韧,让乐器自由呼吸、共鸣。
Maintenance & Care
西塔琴主要由葫芦和薄音木制成,对环境变化十分敏感。养护中最关键的是适当的湿度控制。我们建议保持45-55% 的相对湿度(RH)。干燥气候下葫芦会变脆开裂,而季风地区湿度过高则使木材膨胀,导致声音沉闷或桥码变形。
品与弦的寿命离不开清洁。每次练习后,演奏者应用柔软干布擦拭琴弦,去除导致锈蚀的油脂与汗水。帕尔达(Parda,品)以丝线捆扎,日久会松动;检查这些捆扎,并不时在摩擦弦轴(昆蒂)上滴一滴矿物油,可在演出时保持乐器的音准。最后,贾瓦里桥码因琴弦摩擦会逐渐磨出凹槽,损害音色。建议每年请专业工匠做一次“调试”,重新抛光桥码表面,使音色终生清亮。
