About Tejaswini Digamber Vernekar

Tejaswini Vernekar is a distinguished Hindustani classical vocalist, known for her depth of raga exploration, refined voice culture, and thoughtful approach to both performance and pedagogy. With over two decades of rigorous training, her music reflects a firm grounding in tradition combined with a sensitive, contemporary aesthetic.

She holds a Gold Medal in Hindustani Classical Music from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), an institution renowned for its scholarly approach to Indian arts. Tejaswini is also an All India Radio–graded artist, a recognition that reflects her consistent artistic merit and contribution to classical music performance.

Her training has been shaped under eminent gurus of the Hindustani tradition, and her musical journey shows a deep engagement with raga grammar, layakari, and emotional nuance. In performance, she is especially noted for her ability to unfold ragas with patience and clarity, allowing space for both introspection and vitality. Her repertoire spans traditional khayal presentations, as well as semi-classical and devotional forms, all approached with equal sincerity.

Tejaswini has performed at leading music festivals and concert platforms across India and internationally, connecting with diverse audiences while maintaining classical integrity. Her presentations are marked by a balance of intellectual structure and expressive spontaneity, making her performances accessible without dilution of form.

As a teacher and mentor, she is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians. Her approach to teaching emphasises disciplined riyaaz, clear understanding of raga frameworks, and the cultivation of an individual musical voice. She believes in long-term musical development rather than short-term results, aligning pedagogy with lived musical practice.

She has been closely associated with KalaSudha across multiple initiatives, including her participation in the Purvi Festival and her active involvement in shaping KalaSudha’s evolving academy vision. Through performances, collaborations, and academic planning, she continues to contribute meaningfully to KalaSudha’s mission of building sustainable, high-quality platforms for Indian classical music in the UK and beyond.
