KalaSudha (kalasudha.com) is a family-run, self-funded social enterprise for Indian classical music, founded in 2023 by Rajeev Kumar and Shabd Pyari in Newham, London. A share of every paid activity goes to our artists development fund, which pays for concerts, recordings and the promotion of the art forms. We present concerts in the UK and India, teach live online through structured courses in 22 languages, release recordings, and promote the artists we work with to presenters worldwide.

Getting started 6
- I'm new to Indian classical music. Where do I start? Indian classical music for beginners starts with listening, with no theory needed. Hear one raga at its hour, come to a concert and start lessons with a live teacher at any age.
- Is there a KalaSudha app? There is no KalaSudha app to download. kalasudha.com works in the web browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and live lessons run in the browser too.
- What can I do on KalaSudha? Book concerts of Indian classical music and dance, learn any discipline online with a live teacher, listen to our recordings, buy an instrument and practise with a free tanpura.
- What is KalaSudha? KalaSudha is a family-run, self-funded social enterprise for Indian classical music, founded in London in 2023. We present concerts, teach live online and release recordings.
- Where can I find KalaSudha? The KalaSudha official website is kalasudha.com, where you book tickets and lessons. Our official profiles are on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and X.
- Where do I find the latest details for an event? To check whether the event is still on, open its page on kalasudha.com. It holds the current date, time, venue, prices and line-up, and we update it there when anything changes.
Account & sign-in 12
- Change your password Choose Change password from the account menu, enter your current password, type the new one in both boxes and press Submit. Forgotten the current one? Reset it instead.
- Confirm your email address after signing up Open the email we send after you sign up and follow its link. It confirms your address and lets you set your password. No email? Check spam, then press Resend email.
- Create a KalaSudha account Press Sign Up at the top of any page and fill in your name and email address. Then press Create new account. The account is free, and the email we send lets you set your password.
- Do I need an account, and what do I get with one? No. You can book KalaSudha tickets as a guest with your email address. We then set up a free account under that address, or add the order to the account that already uses it.
- How do I change the email address on my account? Open Settings from the account menu, type the new address, enter your current password and save. Your orders, tickets and invoices stay with your account.
- How do I delete my KalaSudha account? Email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my data" and the email address or phone number you used with us. We delete your data within 30 days and confirm by email.
- I booked as a guest. How do I get into my account? A guest booking is filed under your checkout email. Use the sign-in link in the welcome email, or set a password for that email from Forgot your password? and sign in.
- Log in to your KalaSudha account Your KalaSudha login is your email address or username, plus your password. Press Log In at the top of any page, enter both and press Sign in.
- Please complete your profile information to continue: what to do The message opens the Complete Your Profile page. Type your first name, the one required field, and press Save and Continue. The site saves your details to your account.
- Reset your password Press Forgot your password? on the sign-in page, enter your email address and press Submit. We email you a link to set a new password; it lasts 24 hours and works once.
- Too many sign-in attempts: your account is temporarily blocked After five failed sign-ins on one account within 6 hours, KalaSudha blocks sign-in to it for a while. Reset your password, or wait for the block to lift by itself.
- Update your name or phone number Open Settings from the account menu and edit First name, Last name or Phone. Then press Save. The phone number is a contact field only; you cannot sign in with it.
Learners and families 4
- Accept an invitation to a learner Open the invitation email and press Accept invitation. The link works once, until the date it gives. If your email address has no KalaSudha account, we set one up.
- Add a child as a learner Sign in, open Who is learning? and press Add learner. Your child gets a learner profile under your account, and you switch to it when they learn.
- Give your child their own login At 13 or over, once a date of birth is recorded, press Give them their own login on the learner's access page. Their courses, lessons and certificates carry across.
- Share a learner with another parent or a teacher Press Manage access on the learner's tile and invite another parent or a teacher by email. You choose what they can do, and they accept with their own login.
Getting help 5
- Contact us To contact KalaSudha, email [email protected] or use the form on the contact page. We reply within one working day.
- Follow up on a message I sent To follow up on a support message to KalaSudha, reply in the same conversation: the Messages tab for a panel message, or a reply to our email for an email or form message.
- Report a problem with a page To report a problem with a website page on kalasudha.com, press Feedback on this page in that page's footer, choose Bug report, say what went wrong and send.
- Send us a message from any page KalaSudha chat support sits behind the round message button at the bottom corner of the page. Choose Send us a message, pick a topic and send. No account needed.
- What should I include when I write to you? For a booking, send KalaSudha the event name and date, your booking email and order number. For a site problem, send the page address, what you did and what you saw.
Courses & Learning 15
- Book a one-to-one session Choose the course, level, length and a time on the instructor's calendar, then pay at checkout. The instructor accepts the request and we email you the confirmation.
- Book more lessons on the same topic Book another one-to-one session with the same instructor, the same way as the first. A topic stays open until your instructor closes it after review.
- Can I join a workshop or summer camp near me? Yes, once enough learners in your area sign up. Register interest where you live on the workshops and summer camps page, and you hear first when one is set there.
- Enrol in a course Sign in, open the course and press Enrol now, then book and pay for your first one-to-one session. Batch courses open when we announce a batch, through its own enrolment link.
- How do I get a certificate for a course or workshop? You earn a KalaSudha certificate for each module once your teacher credits every skill it covers. Module certificates lead to level awards; workshops give a certificate of participation.
- How learning works at KalaSudha: one-to-one and batch Every KalaSudha course is a set of topics in modules and levels. Learn them one-to-one at your own pace, or in a batch with a group on a timetable.
- If a class is missed, by you or the instructor A missed one-to-one lesson is charged in full. For a missed batch class, we send the recording. If your instructor misses a class, you get a free replacement.
- My one-to-one booking was declined. What happens to my payment? If an instructor declines your one-to-one booking, we cancel it and refund your payment in full to the way you paid, and email you the instructor's reason.
- Reschedule or cancel a lesson Email us at least 48 hours before a one-to-one lesson to move or cancel it. With less notice, or if you do not turn up, the lesson is charged in full.
- See your progress in a course Sign in, open the learning area and choose the course under My Courses. The course page counts modules, lessons and activities completed and shows a badge for each level.
- Send a practice recording for feedback Open the lesson's practice assignment, choose your audio or video file under File and press Submit. Your instructor scores it out of 5 and talks it through in your next class.
- Verify your email when you enrol in a course When you enrol in a KalaSudha batch course, we email a 4-digit code. Enter it within 15 minutes and press Verify. No code? Check spam, then press Resend Code.
- Waiting for your instructor to accept a one-to-one booking After you pay, the request goes to the instructor, who accepts or declines it. We email you as soon as they decide; your dashboard shows it as Pending until then.
- Watch your class recordings Open the course from My Courses and go to the lesson. The recording sits under the session a short time after the class. Watch it on the site for one year after the module finishes.
- When do I get lesson reminders? We email a reminder 24 hours before a confirmed one-to-one lesson and another 20 minutes before it starts, each with a Join Video Session button.
Tickets & booking 15
- "Your seat reservation expired and was released" Your seat reservation expired because the checkout timer ran out before you paid. The seats went back on sale. Choose them again and pay while the new timer runs.
- Book for a group of more than six To book more than six reserved seats for a group, write to us with the event, the number of tickets and the ticket types. We place the booking at the normal prices.
- Book tickets for a KalaSudha concert Book KalaSudha tickets on kalasudha.com: open the concert from the events page, press Book Now, choose your tickets and pay at checkout. No account needed.
- Book with access needs or bring a carer A carer or PA ticket for a KalaSudha concert is free: book your ticket, then email us with the order number and we add it. For a wheelchair space, write before you book.
- Can I change my booking to another date or ticket type? No. A KalaSudha booking cannot move to another date or ticket type. Pass the ticket to someone else, ask about a refund, or book the other date as a new order.
- Can someone else use my ticket? Yes. KalaSudha tickets carry no name. Email us with your order number and the new person's email address, and we send the tickets to them. Never resell above face value.
- Choose your seats on the seating plan At a reserved-seat KalaSudha concert, press Book Now, pick a zone, tap your seats and press Add to Cart. Up to six seats per order, held while the timer runs.
- Did my booking go through? Your KalaSudha booking is confirmed when the last page shows your order number and the tickets email follows. No number and no email: check your payment before booking again.
- Find your tickets after booking Your KalaSudha tickets arrive by email as a PDF with one QR code per ticket. You can also sign in, open your orders, choose the booking and press Download tickets.
- How do I change the name or email on my booking? You cannot change a KalaSudha booking yourself. Email [email protected] with your order number and the correct details; we update it and send your tickets again.
- I bought my ticket on another website. Is it valid? Yes. A ticket bought on another website that sells our concerts is valid for the same KalaSudha event. That website sends the ticket and handles changes and refunds.
- Is my seat reserved, or do I sit anywhere? It depends on the venue: reserved seats you pick on a plan, seating zones where you sit anywhere in your zone, or unreserved seating. The booking page shows which.
- The event is sold out. Can I still get a ticket? Sometimes. Returned tickets go back on sale on the event page, so check it again. Or email us with the event and number of tickets, and we tell you if any come back.
- Ticket types: early bird, general admission, student and Full Day Early bird tickets sell at the early bird price until the date on the event page; general admission follows. Student tickets need ID at the door; Full Day covers a day's concerts.
- Use a discount code at checkout Enter your code in the Order summary box on the first checkout page, under Add a promotion code, and press Apply. One code per order; the booking fee stays the same.
At the concert 8
- Can I bring children to a KalaSudha concert? Yes. All ages are welcome at KalaSudha concerts. Every child needs a ticket, and under-16s come with an adult.
- Can I take photos or film at a KalaSudha concert? Photos and short clips are welcome at the end of a KalaSudha concert. While the musicians play, cameras and phones stay down. No long-form recording for public release.
- How long is a KalaSudha concert? A KalaSudha concert lasts about 2 to 2½ hours, in two halves with a short interval. Each event page gives the exact start and finish times.
- I've never been to an Indian classical concert. What should I expect? At a KalaSudha concert you arrive at the door time, show your ticket's QR code and take your seat. It runs about 2 to 2½ hours in two halves, and the music opens slow and quiet.
- Leave a review after a KalaSudha concert To review a KalaSudha concert, open the email "How was [event]?", follow its link, add your display name, a rating and your review, and press Submit review.
- Show your ticket at the door Show the QR code on your KalaSudha ticket at the door, on your phone or printed, and our staff scan it. Each ticket has its own code, so each person needs their own.
- What if I arrive late to a KalaSudha concert? If you arrive late to a KalaSudha concert, you can still come in. Wait at the door, then take your seat at a natural pause between pieces.
- When should I clap at an Indian classical concert? At an Indian classical concert, clap at the end of each piece. A soft "wah" or brief applause at a striking moment is normal. If unsure, wait for the end of the piece.
Online classes 6
- Fix sound or video problems during a class No sound? Check the microphone button and your tile for Muted, then the Microphone and Speaker lists in Settings. Still failing? Leave and rejoin.
- Join a class as a guest with a code Open the invitation email, press Join Meeting and verify your email with the 4-digit code we send you. No account needed. The code works for 15 minutes.
- Join your video class To join your online music class, sign in, open My Meetings and press Join Meeting. The button and the class room open 5 minutes before the start time.
- My class was moved. Where do I see the new time? When a class moves, My Meetings shows the new start time, and in most cases a "Meeting Time Updated" email gives it too. Your join link stays the same.
- Set up your camera, microphone and sound for a music class Wear headphones, allow your camera and microphone, switch off voice processing and test a day before. A phone can join as a second microphone.
- Which browsers and devices work for KalaSudha classes? KalaSudha classes work in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer, phone or tablet. No app or download. You need a camera, microphone and headphones.
Billing & Payments 9
- Can I get a refund for a course? Yes. If you are not satisfied with a course, ask us for a refund. We refund your last class and stop your course progress there.
- Find your order, receipt or invoice Your confirmation email is your receipt. Orders sit under Orders in your account, course invoices under Invoices, and we send a ticket invoice on request.
- I can no longer come. Can I get a refund? Ask for a refund up to 30 days before the event; we decide case by case. We do not refund tickets in the last 30 days, but you can pass your ticket on.
- My payment failed or was interrupted If your card was declined at checkout, no booking was made and you can pay again. If we email you about a failed payment, use the Complete Payment button.
- Refunds: when you get one and how long it takes If we cancel or move an event, you choose a refund or a transfer. You can ask for a ticket refund up to 30 days before the event. Refunds take 7 to 14 working days.
- Ways to pay Pay by debit or credit card at checkout on kalasudha.com. Stripe, our payment provider, takes the payment, and we charge in pounds sterling (£).
- What happens if an event is cancelled or postponed You choose a full refund or a transfer to the new date or an equivalent concert. Refunds reach your original payment method within 7 to 14 working days.
- What is the booking fee? We add a booking fee of 5% of the ticket price to each ticket. You see it before you pay, discount codes do not reduce it, and courses carry none.
- Which currency do I pay in? You pay in pounds sterling (£) on kalasudha.com. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the amount and may add its own fee.
Language, emails & settings 5
- Change the site language To change the site language on kalasudha.com, open Country and language from the footer or the top menu, pick a language and press Apply preferences.
- Change your country or region To change your country or region, press the country name in the kalasudha.com footer, pick one under Country / region and press Apply preferences.
- Stop WhatsApp messages from KalaSudha To stop WhatsApp messages from KalaSudha, reply STOP, on its own, to any WhatsApp message from us, or email [email protected] with your number.
- Subscribe to or leave the newsletter To subscribe to the KalaSudha newsletter, use the Stay close form on the home page and confirm by email. To leave, press click here in any newsletter's footer.
- Which emails will I still get after I unsubscribe? After you unsubscribe, KalaSudha still sends receipts, tickets, booking, account and lesson emails, and verification codes. Newsletters and other marketing emails stop.
Troubleshooting 5
- "Oops! You've Wandered Off the Musical Path": the page was not found "Oops! You've Wandered Off the Musical Path" is the KalaSudha page-not-found message. Check the address, use the search box on that page, or start again from the events page.
- "Too many booking attempts. Please wait a while and try again." The KalaSudha booking page has paused new tries from your browser or connection for a short time. Wait, then book once, pressing Add to Cart a single time.
- Not receiving emails from us KalaSudha emails come from [email protected] or [email protected]. Check spam and promotions, add both addresses to your contacts, and check the email address you gave us.
- Something isn't working on KalaSudha. What should I do? Find your problem and follow its fix: pages that will not load, missing emails, booking and payment errors, sign-in trouble and class problems. Then email us if it stays.
- The page looks broken or will not load If a KalaSudha page looks broken or will not load, reload it, then check your connection and browser. If it stays, tell us through Feedback on this page at the foot of the page.
Practice tools 4
- Is there a limit on KalaSudha Composer compositions? Yes. Composer comes with the Sadhana digital tools subscription, and each account can save a set number of compositions and pages. Write to us for more room.
- Print or share your notation from KalaSudha Composer Open a composition and press Print Composition to print it or save a PDF. To share it, set it to Unlisted or Public and send its link.
- Share a KalaSudha page with a friend Press Share on a KalaSudha page to copy its link or send it by WhatsApp, Facebook, X, LinkedIn or email. On other pages, copy the address bar.
- Use the KalaSudha online tanpura The KalaSudha tanpura plays a drone in your browser, free and with no account. Pick your Sa, press Play, then tune the strings and the sound as it runs.
Listening & library 8
- Can I buy a KalaSudha album or CD? Yes. Email [email protected] with the album's name and say whether you want the CD or a digital copy. We reply within one working day.
- Explore gharanas, instruments and artforms on KalaSudha KalaSudha's gharanas list is the Explore Gharanas page, filtered by type and era. Instruments have guides on the instruments page, and vocal, instrumental and dance have their own pages.
- Find an artist's albums and videos on KalaSudha KalaSudha albums are on the Releases page and videos in the Video Library. Type the artist's name into the search box on each, or narrow the list with the filters.
- Find KalaSudha concerts by city, instrument or date Open the KalaSudha events page and pick your city under Filter Events. Filter by instrument, switch between upcoming and past concerts, and sort by date or title.
- Get updates about KalaSudha concerts in your city Open your city's page on KalaSudha, press Register for updates, give your first name and email, and press Register interest. We write about concerts in that city.
- Listen to a KalaSudha album or track Open the album from the Releases page and press Play Album, or pick a service under Listen Now. Both open the album on a streaming service. Videos play in the Video Library.
- Search KalaSudha for an artist, album or event Press the search icon in the KalaSudha header and type an artist, album, concert or city. Ragas, instruments, gharanas and videos have their own listing pages.
- What does a raga page on KalaSudha tell me? A KalaSudha raga page gives the aroha, avroh and pakad, the thaat, time of day, vadi and samvadi, common phrases and KalaSudha recordings of the raga.
Work with us 13
- "Signing Link Has Expired": what to do If you see Signing Link Has Expired, your link passed the date in the email. Signed in, look in My Documents for an updated link; otherwise write to us and we send a new one.
