Raag Bageshwari – Madhya Laya

Pandit Debasis Chakroborty performs Raag Bageshwari in Madhya Laya, a medium tempo, live at Purvi Festival 2023 in Motihari, Bihar. Raag Bageshwari is a late-night raga from the Kafi thaat, built on Komal Gandhar and Komal Nishad, carrying a mood of longing and introspection. On Indian slide guitar, its continuous pitch movement follows the raga's characteristic gliding phrases.

On the album, this is the first of two tracks. The Madhya Laya develops the raga's melodic material at a measured pace before Jhala closes the performance on the next track.
