Kayam Hussain

Kayam Hussain is an emerging British tabla player based near Rochdale, in the North of England. Son and student of tabla maestro Ustad Shahbaz Hussain, he grew up inside the tradition, learning at home and appearing on stage beside his father from a young age.

His playing has taken him beyond the classical circuit: he performed as a Tabla player with Gorillaz, one of the world's best-known bands, while still at the start of his own career. At KalaSudha, he accompanies visiting masters at our London Ragas Baithak.
