To change the site language on kalasudha.com, open the Country and language dialog, pick a language and press Apply preferences. The page you were on reloads in that language. The languages on offer depend on the country you have chosen.
Change the language on a phone or from the footer
- Open the menu on a phone, or scroll to the foot of any page.
- Press the current language, such as English, next to its down arrow.
- Pick the language you want from the Language list.
- Press Apply preferences.
Change the language from the top menu
On a larger screen, the header has a shortcut.
- Press the "…" button, More options, at the top right of the page.
- Choose Language, shown with the current language code, such as EN.
- Pick a language and press Apply preferences.
Which languages you can choose
kalasudha.com runs in 23 languages. The South Asian ones are Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu, Odia, Marathi, Punjabi, Malayalam and Nepali. The others are English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil), Chinese (Simplified), Korean and Japanese. Each name shows in its own script in the list. Urdu pages read right to left.
The list follows your country. The United Kingdom site is in English. The India site has English, Hindi, Tamil and Bengali. Choose International, the first entry in the country list, to see all 23. Other countries get English plus the languages set for them; read Change your country or region.
What the code in the address means
kalasudha.com adds a short language and country code after the domain. We pick it from where you are browsing, so a UK visitor sees /en-gb. Other codes include /hi-in for Hindi in India and /hi-int for Hindi on the international site. Typing kalasudha.com/hi opens the Hindi pages at /hi-int.
What changes when you switch
Menus, buttons, checkout and your account pages follow your language. Events, courses, artist profiles, ragas, instruments and FAQs carry translations too, page by page. A page with no translation yet shows in English, as Why is part of a page still in English? explains.
Learning works in your language as well. We translate Academy course material into 22 languages besides English, and your teacher teaches live in their own language. Read Learn Indian classical music in your language.
If this does not work
I can change the language but not the country
When you are signed in and your account has a country, the dialog shows only the language step. You can still pick any language of your country's site or of the international site.
Apply preferences will not press
The button stays off until you change something. Pick a different language or country first.
The language I had has gone
Some languages are not offered in every country. When you switch country, the dialog picks another language for you. Its message starts "[language] isn't available for [country]".
